What’s one memorable moment or experience from your time at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio?
My most memorable moments from my time at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio were my clinical rotations. We were given the opportunity to rotate through multiple hospitals and different units. Getting to put everything I learned into action, and seeing the difference it makes, was eye opening.
What/who inspired you to pursue Respiratory Care?

I was inspired to pursue Respiratory Care by my mom who is also an alumnae of the institution. My mom was part of the nursing program and told me about respiratory therapy. Additional inspiration to continue to work hard on my studies came from my grandma who needed respiratory care during my time in the Respiratory Care program and my abuelito always encouraged me to pursue higher education.

What are you up to now, and what excited you most about it?

I am now the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor at the UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital. I am most excited about working with the respiratory therapy and interdisciplinary teams to develop processes that best serve our patients.

What advice would you give to current students?

My advice for current students is to not forget their why. Respiratory Care can be challenging, but remembering why you are doing something can motivate you to rise to the challenge.

What is your favorite fall activity?

My favorite fall activity is going to a pumpkin patch.
